“Hand in hand with God,we live love and learn together.”
“By God’s grace, we learn to loveand love to learn.”
Homework is set on a weekly basis. It is sent out on a Friday and due in on a Tuesday. Each week there is usually a literacy piece and a maths piece building on the learning that has been going on in class, or in preparation for the following week. This homework is differentiated across the class. There will also be science or theme work set across the term in place of literacy or maths and also projects that may take longer than one week. We use MyMaths as an online maths resources as part of our homework. There is a link to this at the bottom of the page.
As well as the homework that is set on a weekly basis, we also encourage all the children to read daily. Reading is a basic key skill and is vitally important to all the work that is done in school. Asking questions when your child is reading ensures that they are comprehending what they are reading, such as "what did they do next?...why do you think they did that?....what words did the author use?...etc". This backs up the work that they do in their guided reading sessions in class.
Spellings are tested on a Thursday and sent home on a Thursday. Please take time to go over these with your child. Our spellings are based on the new curriculum spelling lists for Years 3 and 4 which can be found below.
