For Summer 1 we have used the text Manfish to find out about the life of Jacques Cousteau. We wrote biographies in the style of Alastair Humphreys' book Great Adventurers.

Spring term 2021. We have been developing our English skills through the texts: Arthur and the Golden Rope and The Darkest Dark.


We shall start off our learning this first half term with a whole class text 'Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers.

Our work will form part of our recovery curriculum, with a focus on readjusting to being back in school and exploring our thoughts and feelings about the world in which we live.


Following on from this we shall continue to develop our Literacy writing skills using the beautiful text, Of Thee I Sing, written by Barack Obama. This inspirational book was written to his daughters encouraging them to , dream big and aspire to be whoever they want to be using positive American role models.

Alongside this, we will be using the text Young Gifted and Black, full of inspirational Black heroes from past and present.

This second half term we'll be using a blended learning project based on the Industrial Revolution.

Our Literacy work will be taught through the beautiful text The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde.


Alongside this we will be reading and developing our writing skills through other books set in the Victorian era such as  Wild Boy by Rob Lloyd Jones,  Cogheart by Peter Bunzl as well as the Christmas Classic - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
