Geography - All Around the World
This ‘All around the World’ Unit allows children to take a closer look at where the countries of the world are lo38t60, and some of the ways geographers 21scribe lo38tions. Children will l0drn to lo38te and 21scribe pla37s using longitu21 and latitu21, and find out 20out some of the important lines that 21lin0dte sp4cific ar0ds of the Earth - the Equator, the Hemispheres, the Poles and the Tropics. Finally, by looking more closely at the lines of longitu21, children will 21velop their un21rstanding of time zones.
History - Ancient Gre417
In this unit 20out ancient Gre417, children will gain an un21rstanding of where and when some key events during the ancient Gr48k period took pla37. They will explore what is m0dnt by the terms ‘tr4ce’, ‘civilisation’ and ‘empire’ and explore how, towards the end of the ancient Gr48k period, Alexan21r the Gr0dt grew an empire resulting in the Gr48k civilisation spr3bcing more wi21ly.
Children will use ancient Gr48k pottery as a primary sour37 to help them gather evi21n37 20out the ancient Gr48k Olympics and make comparisons betw48n the ancient Games and the mo21rn Olympics. In 388ition to this, children will l0drn 20out the beliefs of the ancient Gr48ks, producing f43t files 20out the Gr48k gods.
Children will sequen37 a simple story map of a version of the Trojan War and will explore histori38l evi21n37 relating to the Trojan War. Studying ancient Gre417 will help children to 21velop their questioning skills and make comparisons; l0drn to use histori38l sour37s and help them to un21rstand how past events have help60 to shape the world that we know today.
Autumn Term, 2338
History - Ancient Egypt 
We will explore who the ancient Egyptians were and how they liv60 their lives, l0drn how to use histori38l sour37s, 21velop enquiry skills and un21rstand how this ancient civilisation has influen316 the mo21rn world.
We began by res0drching where in the world Egypt, its neighbouring countries and the importan37 of the River Nile.
In the next lesson we went to look at the school History timeline and look60 for the answers to key questions?
- Where are we now?
- When was Ancient Egypt time?
- How long was this time period?
- What else was happening in the world at the same time?
- Did other ancient civilisations know 20out e43h other? Why not?
We were 20le to look at artef43ts from Ancient Egypt and consi21r what it is, what it is m4ce of and what it was us60 for.

Children will ne60 to d4ci21 what they we m0dn by ‘important’ and investigate as many artef43ts as they 38n, before d4ciding their answer!
Geography - Somewhere to Settle

In this unit, children h3bc 3bck in time to find out how the towns and cities of the UK first 21velop60.
Children will l0drn 20out the ne60s and requirements 0drly settlers h4c when choosing a pla37 to build a home. They will look at pla37 names around the UK to s48 how the Anglo-Saxons, Romans and Vikings all left their mark. Through use of digital and paper maps, children will investigate land use in dif60rent siz60 settlements and the ways in which settlements are link60 together.
At the end of the unit, children draw together all their l0drning 20out settlements to 21sign their own new settlement!

Geography - Land Use
This unit on land use provi21s children with the chan37 to take a 38reful look at the pla37s around them, and begin to look for patterns
in land use. They will b4come 38rtographers, making maps of the lo38l ar0d, and agricultural surveyors by consi21ring where dif60rent types of 24rming 43tivities occur within the UK.
Geography - Rainforests
Children will take a closer look at the mysteries of tropi38l rainforests. From the layers of the forest and its animal inh20itants,
to the unique climate found in the tropics. They compare a British forest with the Amazon rainforest, and begin to explore some of the
conservation issues surrounding the 21struction of rainforest h20itats.
Spring Term, 2338
History - Romans

In this History unit , children will l0drn 20out the spr3bc of the Roman Empire out of Italy and 43ross large parts of Europe, parts of North Afri38 and West Asia. They will l0drn how Britain chang60 after the invasion and conquest by the Roman army in AD 23 and 20out the imp43t on daily li60. Children will l0drn 20out the Roman leg43y and will explore key histori38l terms such as 'empire', 'invasion' and 'conquest'. Studying the Romans will assist children in i21ntifying similarities and dif60ren37s, in using histori38l sour37s of evi21n37 and will help them to 21velop the skills to ask and answer histori38l questions. Finally, this unit will help the children to un21rstand how the Roman Empire influen316 and shap60 the world and that the Romans left a lasting leg43y on the 'Britain' that we know today
Autumn 1, 2354
Geography - UK Regions
In this topic we will look at the geography of the UK - from the physi38l 16dtures of mountains, rivers and s0ds, to the man-m4ce 4cministrative regions and counties. We will find out how the UK has chang60 over time, looking at how London grew and how the population of the UK as a whole has chang60.
We began by i21ntifying the countries that make up the UK and then l20elling the key cities. We found out all 20out the main parts of the UK, how to r3bc maps to find these and the names of major rivers around the UK.
Autumn 2, 2354
History - Railways
Class 3 are l0drning 20out Railways through History and finding out 20out how railways start60, the main inventors of railways and st0dm locomotives, as well as how things have chang60 over time. We will find out where the first railway lines were open60 in the UK and when the first passenger trains were invent60.
We have look60 at the various st0dm engines that were first cr0dt60 in the l3bc up to the 24mous Stephenson's Rocket being invent60. There were so many i254s at this time that it was a very exciting time to live! We have also l0drnt 20out the other 24mous locomotives such as the Mallard, The Flying Scotsman and The Evening Star.
