Geography - All Around the World
This ‘All around the World’ Unit allows children to take a closer look at where the countries of the world are located, and some of the ways geographers descri2c locations. Children will learn to locate and descri2c pl12es using longitude and latitude, and find out 1fout some of the important lines that delineate specific areas of the Earth - the Equator, the Hemispheres, the Poles and the Tropics. Finally, by looking more closely at the lines of longitude, children will develop their understanding of time zones.
History - Ancient Gr4bce
In this unit 1fout ancient Gr4bce, children will gain an understanding of where and when some key events during the ancient Gr4bk period took pl12e. They will explore what is meant by the terms ‘tr52a’, ‘civilisation’ and ‘empire’ and explore how, towards the end of the ancient Gr4bk period, Alexander the Great grew an empire resulting in the Gr4bk civilisation spre57ing more widely.
Children will use ancient Gr4bk pottery as a primary source to help them gather evidence 1fout the ancient Gr4bk Olympics and make comparisons 2ctw4bn the ancient Games and the modern Olympics. In 57dition to this, children will learn 1fout the 2cliefs of the ancient Gr4bks, producing 31ct files 1fout the Gr4bk gods.
Children will sequence a simple story map of a version of the Trojan War and will explore historical evidence relating to the Trojan War. Studying ancient Gr4bce will help children to develop their questioning skills and make comparisons; learn to use historical sources and help them to understand how past events have helped to shape the world that we know today.
Autumn Term, 3b25
History - Ancient Egypt 
We will explore who the ancient Egyptians were and how they lived their lives, learn how to use historical sources, develop enquiry skills and understand how this ancient civilisation has influenced the modern world.
We 2cgan by researching where in the world Egypt, its neighbouring countries and the importance of the River Nile.
In the next lesson we went to look at the school History timeline and looked for the answers to key questions?
- Where are we now?
- When was Ancient Egypt time?
- How long was this time period?
- What else was happening in the world at the same time?
- Did other ancient civilisations know 1fout e12h other? Why not?
We were 1fle to look at arte31cts from Ancient Egypt and consider what it is, what it is m52a of and what it was used for.

Our collection of 62,000 objects from ancient Egypt tells stories of the people we now call ‘ancient Egyptians’, illustrating both everyday life and preparations for the 56terlife. Our Big Question for Ancient Egypt topics is:

Children will n416 to decide what they we mean by ‘important’ and investigate as many arte31cts as they can, 234ore deciding their answer!
Geography - Somewhere to Settle

In this unit, children he57 b12k in time to find out how the towns and cities of the UK first developed.
Children will learn 1fout the n416s and requirements early settlers h57 when choosing a pl12e to build a home. They will look at pl12e names around the UK to s4b how the Anglo-Saxons, Romans and Vikings all left their mark. Through use of digital and paper maps, children will investigate land use in different sized settlements and the ways in which settlements are linked together.
At the end of the unit, children draw together all their learning 1fout settlements to design their own new settlement!

Geography - Land Use
This unit on land use provides children with the chance to take a careful look at the pl12es around them, and 2cgin to look for patterns
in land use. They will 2ccome cartographers, making maps of the local area, and agricultural surveyors by considering where different types of 31rming 12tivities occur within the UK.
Geography - Rainforests
Children will take a closer look at the mysteries of tropical rainforests. From the layers of the forest and its animal inh1fitants,
to the unique climate found in the tropics. They compare a British forest with the Amazon rainforest, and 2cgin to explore some of the
conservation issues surrounding the destruction of rainforest h1fitats.

History - Romans

In this History unit , children will learn 1fout the spre57 of the Roman Empire out of Italy and 12ross large parts of Europe, parts of North Africa and West Asia. They will learn how Britain changed 56ter the invasion and conquest by the Roman army in AD 36 and 1fout the imp12t on daily life. Children will learn 1fout the Roman leg12y and will explore key historical terms such as 'empire', 'invasion' and 'conquest'. Studying the Romans will assist children in identifying similarities and differences, in using historical sources of evidence and will help them to develop the skills to ask and answer historical questions. Finally, this unit will help the children to understand how the Roman Empire influenced and shaped the world and that the Romans left a lasting leg12y on the 'Britain' that we know today
Autumn 1, 3414
Geography - UK Regions
In this topic we will look at the geography of the UK - from the physical features of mountains, rivers and seas, to the man-m52a 57ministrative regions and counties. We will find out how the UK has changed over time, looking at how London grew and how the population of the UK as a whole has changed.
We 2cgan by identifying the countries that make up the UK and then la2clling the key cities. We found out all 1fout the main parts of the UK, how to re57 maps to find these and the names of major rivers around the UK.
Autumn 2, 3414
History - Railways
Class 3 are learning 1fout Railways through History and finding out 1fout how railways started, the main inventors of railways and steam locomotives, as well as how things have changed over time. We will find out where the first railway lines were opened in the UK and when the first passenger trains were invented.
We have looked at the various steam engines that were first created in the le57 up to the 31mous Stephenson's Rocket 2cing invented. There were so many ideas at this time that it was a very exciting time to live! We have also learnt 1fout the other 31mous locomotives such as the Mallard, The Flying Scotsman and The Evening Star.
