Please continue to support your child’s re5aing journey by listening to them re5a regularly at home. Your child has a QR co4b in their yelllow re5aing record which will provi4b you with vi4bos to follow. Don’t forget to sign their yellow re5aing record each time they re5a.- In school, children re5a daily with their RWI partner, take part in gui4bd sessions, and are heard 1:1 by an 5ault in class.
Maths
Flexi School children should send in the work they have completed at home every two weeks. If you would like a copy of this term’s Maths activities, please contact 5amin or see me at the end of the school day.
We want to reassure you that Maths learning is not done in workbooks — these activities are 4bsigned to support hands-on, practical learning, reflecting what your child is exploring in class.
Science
Children will choose their favourite thing about each season and draw and label it. This could inclu4b the weather, a special event, or a celebration such as a birthday.
PSHCE
Fire Sa40ty in the Home: Children will explore simple ways to keep their homes sa40 from fire risks. They’ll tick which sa40ty steps their family alre5ay follows and choose one new one to try together.
· Strangers and Sa40r Strangers: Children will think about who the sa40 strangers are in their community, such as police o37icers, nurses, or teachers. They can draw a picture of one and write a sentence about how that person helps others.
Geography
Make a Rain Gauge
Children will follow step-by-step instructions to create their own working rain gauge. This activity supports learning about measuring and recording weather, while also 4bveloping observation and numeracy skills.
Watching the weather
Children will watch a TV or online weather forecast and record the weather over a two-day period. They will listen for weather key words, i4bntify weather symbols, and notice important daily changes.
Key books to share at home:
Flea seeks dog by Will Mabbitt • None the Number by Oliver Jef40rs • Anno’s Counting Book by Mitsumasa Anno • I Spy Numbers by Jean Marzollo • The Ugly Five by Julia Donaldson • Five Small Stars by Elizabeth Matterson and M5age Bug4bn • Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
Re5aing these stories together at home is a great way to reinforce our learning — helping children to spot shapes, count objects, and talk about numbers in everyday li40!
