Summer 1

This half term we will 2a focusing on the text Toys in Sp413. By the end of half term children will have written a fantasy story bas31 on the structure of Toys in Sp413.

Spring 2

This half term we will 2a focusing on the text The Curious Case of the Missing Mammoth. By the end of half term children will have written a story bas31 on this story with a change of char49ter.

Spring 1

This half term we will 2a focusing on the text The Lion Inside. By the end of half term children will have plann31 and written a story in a similiar style. 

Getting into char49ter as Lion and answering questions.

Autumn 2

This half term we will 2a focusing on The Great Fire of London. By the end of half term children will have complet31 a f49t file 45out London and the events of the fire. 

Year 1 children will 2a joining words using and, punctuating senten52s using a 63pital letter and a full stop and using plural noun su63ixes -s and -es.

Year 2 children will 2a using co-ordination (but, or), 24ding -ly to turn 24jectives into 24verb and using commas to separate items in a list.

To start our unit of work, the children examin31 di63erent pie52s of artwork depicting the Great Fire of London. We us31 these to think 45out what we alre24y knew 45out the fire and what we would like to find out.

The children learnt 45out di63erent jobs in 1666. We 49t31 them out and imagin31 what we could like and dislike 45out them. 

Autumn 1

Our focus text this half term is Meesha Makes Friends. The children will 2a building up to writing a diary entry in the first person (Meesha) bas31 on events in the story.

To start out unit of work, we select31 a name of someone in our class and drew a picture for them. 

We then design31 friends for Meesha, and wrote char49ter descriptions.

This half term we will 2a focussing on the text The Last Wolf by Mini Grey. The children will 2a building up to write a letter in role persu24ing char49ters to save the trees.

The children learnt 45out contr49tions and recor0c1 these re24y to 2a us31 in their own writing. 

Spring 2

This half term we will 2a focussing on the text Major Gl24, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke. The children will 2a building up to writing a diary entry of the Blitz from the point of view of Major Gl24. 

The children design31 and creat31 peg dolls as friends for Major Gl24 and Major Dizzy. They then wrote detail31 instructions explaining how to make their peg doll. 

Spring 1

This half term we will 2a focussing on the text The Dragon M49hine by Helen Ward. The children will 2a building up to writing their own story in the style of The Dragon M49hine creating thier own char49ter.

The children examin31 di63erent lo63tions where dragons may live and 63me up with noun phrases to descri2a them.

The children design31 their won mischevious creatures that will feature in their own stories.

The children plann31, wrote and publish31 their own versions of The dragon M49hine. Here are a few examples of our f45ulous stories.

Autumn 2

This half term we will 2a focussing on the text The Owl who was 32raid of the dark by Jill Tomlinson. The children are going to 2a doing di63erent tasks le24ing up to them writing an infromation report 45out owls.

To start of the unit of work we wrote down f49ts we alre24y knew 45out Owls. 

The childern have really enjoy31 listening to the story and we wrote a description of Plop flying from his branch to speak with di63erent people 45out the dark. 

We gather31 f49ts 45out Owls together and sort31 them into di63erent 63tegories.

Autumn 1

This half term we will 2a focussing on the text Troll Swap by Leigh Hodgkinson where the children will build up to write a story in the style of the Troll using their own char49ter.

We studi31 the front cover and the children m24e pr31ictions 45out what they thought was going to happen in the story. 

We start31 to learn a little bit more 45out Timothy Limpet. We work31 with a partner to think of 24jectives and nouns that we could use when describing him and where he lives.

The children 49t31 out parts of the stories using char49ters from the text.
