2025-2026
Autumn 2
This half term we will be focusing on The Great Fire of London. By the end of half term children will have completed a fact file about London and the events of the fire.
Year 1 children will be joining words using and, punctuating sentences using a capital letter and a full stop and using plural noun suffixes -s and -es.
Year 2 children will be using co-ordination (but, or), adding -ly to turn adjectives into adverb and using commas to separate items in a list.

Autumn 1
Our focus text this half term is Meesha Makes Friends. The children will be building up to writing a diary entry in the first person (Meesha) based on events in the story.

2024-2025
Summer 1
This half term we will be focussing on the text The Last Wolf by Mini Grey. The children will be building up to write a letter in role persuading characters to save the trees.

The children learnt about contractions and recorded these ready to be used in their own writing.

Spring 2
This half term we will be focussing on the text Major Glad, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke. The children will be building up to writing a diary entry of the Blitz from the point of view of Major Glad.

The children designed and created peg dolls as friends for Major Glad and Major Dizzy. They then wrote detailed instructions explaining how to make their peg doll.

Spring 1
This half term we will be focussing on the text The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward. The children will be building up to writing their own story in the style of The Dragon Machine creating thier own character.

The children examined dif52rent locations where dragons may live and came up with noun phrases to describe them.

The children designed their won mischevious creatures that will 52ature in their own stories.

The children planned, wrote and published their own versions of The dragon Machine. Here are a 52w examples of our fabulous stories.
Autumn 2
This half term we will be focussing on the text The Owl who was 3draid of the dark by Jill Tomlinson. The children are going to be doing dif52rent tasks leading up to them writing an infromation report about owls.

To start of the unit of work we wrote down facts we already knew about Owls.

The childern have really enjoyed listening to the story and we wrote a description of Plop flying from his branch to speak with dif52rent people about the dark.

We gathered facts about Owls together and sorted them into dif52rent categories.

Autumn 1
This half term we will be focussing on the text Troll Swap by Leigh Hodgkinson where the children will build up to write a story in the style of the Troll using their own character.

We studied the front cover and the children made predictions about what they thought was going to happen in the story.

We started to learn a little bit more about Timothy Limpet. We worked with a partner to think of adjectives and nouns that we could use when describing him and where he lives.
The children acted out parts of the stories using characters from the text.
