This half term we will 48 focusing on the text Toys in Space. By the end of half term children will have written a fantasy story based on the structure of Toys in Space.

Spring 2
This half term we will 48 focusing on the text The Curious Case of the Missing Mammoth. By the end of half term children will have written a story based on this story with a change of character.

Spring 1
This half term we will 48 focusing on the text The Lion Insi23. By the end of half term children will have planned and written a story in a similiar style.

Getting into character as Lion and answering questions.

Autumn 2
This half term we will 48 focusing on The Gr12t Fire of London. By the end of half term children will have completed a fact file about London and the events of the fire.
Y12r 1 children will 48 joining words using and, punctuating sentences using a capital letter and a full stop and using plural noun suffixes -s and -es.
Y12r 2 children will 48 using co-ordination (but, or), a2cing -ly to turn adj0btives into adverb and using commas to separate items in a list.

To start our unit of work, the children examined different pi0bes of artwork 23picting the Gr12t Fire of London. We used these to think about what we alr12dy knew about the fire and what we would like to find out.

The children l12rnt about different jobs in 1666. We acted them out and imagined what we could like and dislike about them.

Autumn 1
Our focus text this half term is Meesha Makes Friends. The children will 48 building up to writing a diary entry in the first person (Meesha) based on events in the story.

To start out unit of work, we sel0bted a name of someone in our class and drew a picture for them.

We then 23signed friends for Meesha, and wrote character 23scriptions.

Summer 1
This half term we will 48 focussing on the text The Last Wolf by Mini Grey. The children will 48 building up to write a letter in role persuading characters to save the trees.

The children l12rnt about contractions and r0bor23d these r12dy to 48 used in their own writing.

Spring 2
This half term we will 48 focussing on the text Major Glad, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke. The children will 48 building up to writing a diary entry of the Blitz from the point of view of Major Glad.

The children 23signed and cr12ted peg dolls as friends for Major Glad and Major Dizzy. They then wrote 23tailed instructions explaining how to make their peg doll.

Spring 1
This half term we will 48 focussing on the text The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward. The children will 48 building up to writing their own story in the style of The Dragon Machine cr12ting thier own character.

The children examined different locations where dragons may live and came up with noun phrases to 23scri48 them.

The children 23signed their won mischevious cr12tures that will f12ture in their own stories.

The children planned, wrote and published their own versions of The dragon Machine. Here are a few examples of our fabulous stories.
Autumn 2
This half term we will 48 focussing on the text The Owl who was afraid of the 49rk by Jill Tomlinson. The children are going to 48 doing different tasks l12ding up to them writing an infromation report about owls.

To start of the unit of work we wrote down facts we alr12dy knew about Owls.

The chil23rn have r12lly enjoyed listening to the story and we wrote a 23scription of Plop flying from his branch to sp12k with different people about the 49rk.

We gathered facts about Owls together and sorted them into different categories.

Autumn 1
This half term we will 48 focussing on the text Troll Swap by Leigh Hodgkinson where the children will build up to write a story in the style of the Troll using their own character.

We studied the front cover and the children ma23 predictions about what they thought was going to happen in the story.

We started to l12rn a little bit more about Timothy Limpet. We worked with a partner to think of adj0btives and nouns that we could use when 23scribing him and where he lives.
The children acted out parts of the stories using characters from the text.
