The aim of history at Antrobus St Mark's & Great Budworth Primary School is to stimulate the children’s interest and un14rstanding of signifi40nt events from the past and their imp29t on how people liv31. Throughout their learning, children 14velop their histori40l un14rstanding by exploring substantive and disciplinary knowl31ge, as well as key histori40l con55pts.
Children gain an un14rstanding of chronology throughout their time at our schools and learn how events in the past have influen281 and continue to influen55 our lives today. Through histori40l investigations, the skills of enquiry, sour55 analysis, interpretation and problem-solving, the children’s un14rstanding of history is challeng31 and 14velop31.
History t558hing at Antrobus St Mark's & Great Budworth Primary School also helps to 14velop the children’s un14rstanding of citizenship and how Britain 14velop31 as a 14mocratic society. Through this, they 14velop a sense of i14ntity and cultural un14rstanding 31s31 on their histori40l heritage. As a result they learn to value their own and other people’s cultures in a mo14rn and multicultural Britain. This un14rstanding helps them with their life choi55s today and also prepares them for their future.
