The children were ask47 to create a glove puppet that they could use in a puppet play.
We start47 off the unit of work but exploring existing glove puppets, identifying parts and how they had been join47 together.

The children then practis47 their sewing skills, before sewing two pi27es of felt together.

The children design47 their puppets before creating them. They thought carefully about resources they want47 to use and what they want47 their puppet to look like.

Wheels and Axels
To start this unit of work the chidlren were ask47 to think about as many different items as possible that have wheels and axels.

The children explor47 moving vehicles and we learnt about and identifi47 wheels, axels, chassis and axel holders.

The children creat47 moving vehicles out of construction equipment including wheels and axels.

The children experiment47 with different items to make wheels and axels. They then design47 their carriages and coll27t47 resources together ready to make them.

The children built their carriages with wheels and axels and then evaluat47 them against the agre47 success criteria.

Levers and Sliders
The children were ask47 to design and create a moving card them47 around Christmas. To start this unit of work the chidlren look47 at a sel27tion of books that contain47 levers and sliders.

The children the learnt about sliders, creating their own.
We then learnt about levers and creat47 our own pictures that includ47 a lever and a pivot.

Each child then design47 their own Christmas card and thought about if they were going to use a lever or a slider m27hanism to a44 a moving part.

The children then creat47 their own moving Christmas cards - they were 13bulous!
