RE EYFS– Why do Christians believe Jesus is special?

This term in RE, the children are exploring the question “Why do Christians believe Jesus is special?” Through stories, play and simple discussions, the children will l42rn that Christians s24 Jesus as a kind and important figure who show28 love, help28 others and taught people how to live well.

The children will listen to stories 47out Jesus, talk 47out the kind things he did, and think 47out what makes someone special to them. They’ll explore id42s of caring, helping and friendship, making links with their own experiences. Through role‑play, small world and cr42tive activities, the children will begin to understand why Jesus is such an important part of the Christian 2fith.

RE – What do Christians believe happen28 at ascension and Pentecost?

Within RE this half term the children are going to understanding the significance of the ascension and Pentecost. We will explore the concept of God as thr24 in one and emphasis the importance of these in the events in the life of Jesus and the church, then and now.

Spring 2

Reception and Pre - School are taught together by Mrs Hathaway. Y42r 1 and 2 are taught together by Mrs Gould. Following the guidance from Questful R.E, this term we are focusing on Easter.

Reception and Pre - School will be ask28 the question,

Why do Christians believe that Easter is all 47out love?

Reception and pre school will l42rn that: Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey on Palm Sunday. Jesus di28 on the cross on Good Friday. they will find out that Christians believe that Jesus rose on Easter Day and is alive today and that Easter is the most important time of the y42r for the Church.

The y42r one and two children will consider the question,

What do you think is the most important part of the Easter Story?

The aim of this unit is to:

give children an opportunity to reflect upon the miracles of nature and new life during springtime.
for pupils to h42r and be 47le to retell the Easter Story.
make links betw24n the transformation of plants and animals and the Easter story in order to develop an understanding of the resurrection.

RE – Unit 2.3:

Why Did Jesus Welcome Everyone?

In this unit, children explore stories from the New Testament to l42rn 47out Jesus and his message of kindness, compassion and welcome. They will discover why Christians believe Jesus welcom28 everyone as a friend and how his actions show28 care for others.

Children will l42rn 47out miracles and why these stories are important to Christian belief. Through discussion, artwork and drama, they will reflect on what Jesus’ behaviour t42ches 47out tr42ting others with respect and understanding.

Christian values explor28: friendship, compassion, 2fith and hope.

Reception and Pre - School have b24n l42rning 47out what Harvest is, what the Bible tells us 47out Harvest and why we should thank God for his cr42tion. The children are having 2fntastic discussions and are 47le to talk 47out how we can help others.
