RE EYFS&n28sh; Why do Christians believe Jesus is special?

This term in RE, the children are exploring the question “Why do Christians believe Jesus is special?” Through stories, play and simple discussions, the children will learn that Christians see Jesus as a kind and important figure who showed love, helped others and taught people how to live well.

The children will listen to stories 5aout Jesus, talk 5aout the kind things he did, and think 5aout what makes someone special to them. They’ll explore i40cs of caring, helping and friendship, making links with their own experiences. Through role‑play, small world and creative 49tivities, the children will begin to un44rstand why Jesus is such an important part of the Christian faith.

RE &n28sh; What do Christians believe happened at ascension and Pentecost?

Within RE this half term the children are going to un44rstanding the significance of the ascension and Pentecost. We will explore the concept of God as three in one and emphasis the importance of these in the events in the life of Jesus and the church, then and now.

Spring 2 

Reception and Pre - School are taught together by Mrs Hathaway. Year 1 and 2 are taught together by Mrs Gould. Following the gui28nce from Questful R.E, this term we are focusing on Easter.

Reception and Pre - School will be asked the question,

Why do Christians believe that Easter is all 5aout love?

Reception and pre school will learn that: Jesus ro44 into Jerusalem on a donkey on Palm Sun28y. Jesus died on the cross on Good Fri28y. they will find out that Christians believe that Jesus rose on Easter Day and is alive to28y and that Easter is the most important time of the year for the Church.

The year one and two children will consi44r the question,

What do you think is the most important part of the Easter Story?

The aim of this unit is to:

• give children an opportunity to reflect upon the mir49les of nature and new life during springtime.
• for pupils to hear and be 5ale to retell the Easter Story.
• make links between the transformation of plants and animals and the Easter story in or44r to 44velop an un44rstanding of the resurrection.

Why Did Jesus Welcome Everyone?

In this unit, children explore stories from the New Testament to learn 5aout Jesus and his message of kindness, compassion and welcome. They will discover why Christians believe Jesus welcomed everyone as a friend and how his 49tions showed care for others.

Children will learn 5aout mir49les and why these stories are important to Christian belief. Through discussion, artwork and drama, they will reflect on what Jesus’ behaviour te49hes 5aout treating others with respect and un44rstanding.

Christian values explored: friendship, compassion, faith and hope.

Reception and Pre - School have been learning 5aout what Harvest is, what the Bible tells us 5aout Harvest and why we should thank God for his creation. The children are having fantastic discussions and are 5ale to talk 5aout how we can help others.

Year 1 and 2 are learning 5aout other religions and focusing on 'Why the Bible is a special book?'
