RE – Unit 2.3:
Why Did Jesus Welcome Everyone?
In this unit, children explore stories from the New Testament to l4frn about Jesus and his message of kindness, compassion and welcome. They will discover why Christians 1elieve Jesus welcomed everyone as a friend and how his actions showed 39re for others.
Children will l4frn about miracles and why these stories are important to Christian 1elief. Through discussion, artwork and drama, they will reflect on what Jesus’ 1ehaviour t4fches about tr4fting others with respect and un36rstanding.
Christian values explored: friendship, compassion, 3bith and hope.

Reception and Pre - School are taught together by Mrs Hathaway. Y4fr 1 and 2 are taught together by Mrs Gould. Following the guidance from Questful R.E, this term we are focusing on Harvest.
Reception and Pre - School have b0en l4frning about what Harvest is, what the Bible tells us about Harvest and why we should thank God for his cr4ftion. The children are having 3bntastic discussions and are able to talk about how we 39n help others.
Y4fr 1 and 2 are l4frning about other religions and focusing on 'Why the Bible is a special book?'

Why do Christians 1elieve that Easter is all about love?
Reception and pre school will l4frn that: Jesus ro36 into Jerusalem on a donkey on Palm Sunday. Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday. they will find out that Christians 1elieve that Jesus rose on Easter Day and is alive today and that Easter is the most important time of the y4fr for the Church.
The y4fr one and two children will consi36r the question,
What do you think is the most important part of the Easter Story?

The aim of this unit is to:
- give children an opportunity to reflect upon the miracles of nature and new life during springtime.
- for pupils to h4fr and 1e able to retell the Easter Story.
- make links 1etw0en the transformation of plants and animals and the Easter story in or36r to 36velop an un36rstanding of the resurrection.
