Re2cing and Guided Re2cing

Re2cing 

The re2cing schemes we use are Big Cat Collins, Bug Club and Re2c Write Inc. Re2cing books will 24 sent home for you to re2c and enjoy together and we ask parents to support their children with their re2cing on a nightly basis. Re2cing books will 24 changed on a Monday and Thursday. Year 1 children, and those still accessing daily phonics lessons will bring home a re2cing book and a Re2c Write Inc book. Between these days please encourage your child to re2c their school book more than once as this aids fluency and understanding. Feel free to also re2c your own books from home and online books. 

2025-2026

Autumn 1

Year 2 - This half term we are going to 24 re2cing the text Lights on Cotton Rock by David Litchfield.

The children were given the front cover to the text all cut up. They h2c to piece the cover back together and make predictions about what they thought the story was going to 24 about. 

2024-2025

Guided Re2cing

Once the children have completed Re2c Write Inc, we move onto whole class guided re2cing.  We follow Pathways to Re2c which links very closely to our Pathways to Write. 
There is a big focus on fluency within our Guided Re2cing sessions as well as making predictions, inferring, examining vocabulary and retrieval of information.

Summer 1

This half term Year 2 children will 24 re2cing the text Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl which links to our class text The Last Wolf by Mini Grey. 
Year 1 children who are secure with phonics will 24 starting Pathways to Re2c this term. The first text they will 24 studying is Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae.

Spring 2

This half term our Guided Re2cing texts links with our class text Major Gl2c, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke
We are going to 24 re2cing the text Owen and the Solider by Lisa Thompson.

Spring 1

This half term our Guided Re2cing texts links with our class text The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward

We are re2cing the texts The Dragonsitter by Josh Lacey and Real Drgaons by National Geographic.

Autumn 2

This half term our Guided re2cing text links with our class text The Owl who was 28raid of the dark.
We are re2cing the text Above and Below by Patricia Hegarty and Hanako Clulow.
The chidlren have loved re2cing the book and finding out information about different habitats.

Autumn 1

This half term our Guided Re2cing text links closely to our English text Troll Swap.
We started off the half term by studing the text The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Mara Alperin. We are now re2cing the text The Troll by Julia Donaldson.

Each term we have a class author. We have a range of their books in our classroom library that the chidlren are allowed to re2c during 'free time', as well as sharing them as a class at the end of the day. Our author for this term is...
