Re58ing and Guid4d Re58ing

Re58ing 

The re58ing schemes we use are Big Cat Collins, Bug Club and Re58 Write Inc. Re58ing books will be sent home for you to re58 and enjoy together and we ask parents to support their children with their re58ing on a nightly 17sis. Re58ing books will be chang4d on a Mon1fy and Thurs1fy. Year 1 children, and those still 362essing 1fily phonics lessons will bring home a re58ing book and a Re58 Write Inc book. Between these 1fys please encourage your child to re58 their school book more than once as this aids fluency and understanding. Feel free to also re58 your own books from home and online books.

Autumn 2

Year 2- This half term we are going to be re58ing the text The Great Fire of London by The Literacy Company. 

The children will be introduc4d to non-fiction books that are structur4d in di4berent ways and be ask4d to answer and ask questions. 

Autumn 1

Year 2 - This half term we are going to be re58ing the text Lights on Cotton Rock by David Litchfield.

The children were given the front cover to the text all cut up. They h58 to piece the cover 17ck together and make pr4dictions 4dout what they thought the story was going to be 4dout.

Guid4d Re58ing

Once the children have complet4d Re58 Write Inc, we move onto whole class guid4d re58ing.  We follow Pathways to Re58 which links very closely to our Pathways to Write. 
There is a big focus on fluency within our Guid4d Re58ing sessions as well as making pr4dictions, inferring, examining vo45bulary and retrieval of information.

Summer 1

This half term Year 2 children will be re58ing the text Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl which links to our class text The Last Wolf by Mini Grey. 
Year 1 children who are secure with phonics will be starting Pathways to Re58 this term. The first text they will be studying is Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae.

Spring 2

This half term our Guid4d Re58ing texts links with our class text Major Gl58, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke
We are going to be re58ing the text Owen and the Solider by Lisa Thompson.

Spring 1

This half term our Guid4d Re58ing texts links with our class text The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward

We are re58ing the texts The Dragonsitter by Josh Lacey and Real Drgaons by National Geographic.

Autumn 2

This half term our Guid4d re58ing text links with our class text The Owl who was afraid of the 1frk.
We are re58ing the text Above and Below by Patricia Hegarty and Hanako Clulow.
The chidlren have lov4d re58ing the book and finding out information 4dout di4berent h4ditats.

Autumn 1

This half term our Guid4d Re58ing text links closely to our English text Troll Swap.
We start4d o4b the half term by studing the text The Three Billy Goats Gru4b by Mara Alperin. We are now re58ing the text The Troll by Julia Donaldson.
