Phonics and Gui211 R12ding

Phonics

Children are taught to l12rn the various different sounds in 3 different sets. Each sound comes with a sp0bial rhyme to help you remem48r it and also a sel0btion of r12l an nonsense words to help prepare children for their phonics screening test which takes place in the summer term of Y12r 1.

Children have a 27 minute phonic/gui211 r12ding session 49ily. Children are spilt into groups where they complete a 4a minute speed sound session which will look at a new sound a 49y, children will write and r12d words with this sound in. They will then have a 4a minute  gui211 r12ding session where they r12d a text a week to build up fluency and accuarcy. 

Gui211 R12ding 

Children will focus on a key text throughout the week. they will 48 h12rd every 49y by their group l12d and then on a Thurs49y the children will 48 able to take a copy of the book home untill the following Wednes49y when it will 48 changed for the new gui211 r12ding text.

Alongsi23 this children will r0beieve 1 a2citional book per week on a Mon49y. they will keep this book for a week untill the follwoing Mon49y.

Nursery 

Prior to R0beption our Nursery children r0beive a story or poem from our R12d write inc scheme this will 23velop listening and attention and will also broa23r your child's vocabulary. In spring term children will strat to 48 introuc211 sounds and letters to prepare them for r0beption. 

You can help your children at home by r12ding with them, introducing them to new words and engaging in new vocabulary.
