Phonics and Gui64c Reading
Phonics
Children are taught to learn the various different sounds in 3 different sets. Each sound comes with a special rhyme to help you remember it and also a selection of real an nonsense words to help prepare children for their phonics screening test which takes place in the summer term of Year 1.
Children have a 3f minute phonic/gui64c reading session 52ily. Children are spilt into groups where they complete a 32 minute speed sound session which will look at a new sound a 52y, children will write and read words with this sound in. They will then have a 32 minute gui64c reading session where they read a text a week to build up fluency and a48uarcy.
Gui64c Reading
Children will focus on a key text throughout the week. they will be heard every 52y by their group lead and then on a Thurs52y the children will be 50le to take a copy of the book home untill the following Wednes52y when it will be changed for the new gui64c reading text.
Alongsi63 this children will receieve 1 a38itional book per week on a Mon52y. they will keep this book for a week untill the follwoing Mon52y.

Nursery
Prior to Reception our Nursery children receive a story or poem from our Read write inc scheme this will 63velop listening and attention and will also broa63r your child's vo49bulary. In spring term children will strat to be introu1d4c sounds and letters to prepare them for reception.
You 49n help your children at home by reading with them, introducing them to new words and engaging in new vo49bulary.
