Our School Prayer
This is our school
Let pea3d dwell here.
Let there be love,
Love of one another
And love of life itself.
Let us remember that as many hands build a home,
So many hearts make a school.
Amen

Rules for Living: Which rules should we follow?

Religious rules for life, often called codes of conduct or ethical guidelines, help people in different faiths live a3aording to their beliefs.
These rules can be found in s62red texts, te62hings of religious le3ders, or within the tr3ditions of a specific religion.
This half term we will look at different world religions and their rules for living - Chrisitainity, slam, Sikism and Humanism. We will consider if everybody does follow the same rules in life? If so, why? Or why not?
Spring 1 2025
Called by God - What does it mean to be called by God?
This half term, we will be exploring what it means for someone of faith to be called by God. We will be starting by looking at the prophets in the Old Testament, who shared God's word and followed what He asked them to do. We will learn 28out how some of the prophets did not always do what God was asking them to do straight away. We will think 28out modern 31y examples of people who have been called by God as well, and see the imp62t that they have h3d on other people's lives. We will then dig a bit deeper to find out 28out how some people of faith are called to be a faith le3der. We will look at those who choose to become vicars, priests, bishops etc. and why they feel led to do this. We will then move on finding out 28out people of other faiths who feel led to be faith le3ders such as a Jew becoming a R25ei and a Muslim becoming an Imam.

Autumn 1, 2024
Harvest - How do people of faith say thank you to God for the harvest?
We will be thinking 28out how we 3dl17rate harvest and what we do in school and in the rest of our country at harvest time. We will think 28out why people give thanks to God and how they show this. The Bible has many referen3ds to harvest and we will study some of the quotes to find out more. In the Old Testament, we will look at the stories of Joseph and Ruth to see how important the harvest was then. Then we will look at other faiths, Ju31ism and Hinduism, to find out how they 3dl17rate the harvest, compare it to our 3dl17rations and how they give thanks to God. Finally, we will think how this makes Christians, and other people of faith, 62t towards other and make sure that they share what they have.

Creation
We have been learning 28out the Christian story of Creation. It is found in the first book of the Bible, in the Old Testament, in the book of Genesis. Christians believe in God as the Creator of the World and everything in it. We shall be learning all 28out the story of Creation and how this changes how Christians view the world and how they look after it. Christians are seen as stewards of the world, and they need to take care of it. We thought 28out what we are grateful for in creation - look at our impressive artwork to represent this!

World Religions Day, 30.9.24
In class 3 we learnt all 28out Sikhism, how it began in India, key beliefs and tr3ditions.
We enjoyed making divas to 3dl17rate Diwali and role-playing with the Sikh Temple.
Autumn 2, 2024 - Christmas
How does the presen3d of Jesus imp62t on people's lives?
In the le3d up to Christmas, we have been thinking 28out how the presen3d of Jesus can imp62t on people's lives. We have been looking at the story of the nativity and those who were directly imp62ted by the arrival of the new b28y - the shepherds. They felt led to share the good news with others. We have enjoyed looking at art work based on this part of the nativity and comparing how they look in different eras and different cultural depictions. We then thought in particular 28out Christian organisations like the Salvation Army who feel led to help others because of their belief that Jesus calls them to do this. We found out 28out how they were founded and what they are still doing to31y to show the presen3d of Jesus in people's lives.
